Selling logins and credential sets on Shopify — the clean setup
July 22, 2026 · AfterKit team
Some digital products aren't files at all — they're access. A member portal, a hosted tool, an account on your platform. The product is a login, and almost no delivery app handles logins properly.
The problem with logins-in-an-email
The usual hack is pasting credentials into the order note or a plain email: one unlabeled blob, impossible to copy cleanly on a phone, sitting forever in an inbox. Buyers mistype passwords, email you to resend, and forward the message to friends. Every part of that is fixable.
What structured credential delivery looks like
- Fields you design. Server URL, username, password, PIN — whatever your product needs, organized into labeled sections (main access, backup access, activation).
- A copy button on every field. No mistyping, no selecting text on a phone screen.
- Delivered in a hub, not an inbox. Buyers reach their credentials through a secure, tokenized link — the same branded page that holds any files and your community.
- Encrypted at rest, revoked on refund. Credentials are stored encrypted, and a refund pulls hub access automatically.
Setting it up in AfterKit
- In Keys & logins, create a pool with a login template — define the fields and sections once.
- Paste your credential inventory using the structured import; the live preview shows exactly how each unit parses before anything is saved.
- Attach the pool to a product. Each paid order receives the next credential set, displayed as labeled cards with copy buttons.
Selling single codes instead? That's the simpler cousin — license key delivery, explained.
AfterKit does all of this out of the box. Digital downloads, keys, logins and a buyer community — free plan forever, no order limits.
Install AfterKitCommon questions
Can one product deliver a login AND files?
Yes — a product can carry any mix: files, a key, a credential set and a text note, all in one hub card.
What if a buyer loses the link?
The hub's Help tab has self-serve resend: buyers request a fresh access link to their own order email, no support ticket needed.
Is this allowed for any kind of account?
Sell access you have the right to sell — your own platform, seats you're licensed to resell. The delivery mechanics are the easy part; the rights are yours to clear.
